As I look into her eyes I see your reflection Although I’m sad, this is considered a blessing Walked out before you could see her, I’ll take it as a lesson I use to pray that you’d come back and get involved Now that prayer is of the past and has dissolved Every two years I get ONE call You claiming you want to get involved And you’re changing and in her life you have a cause Forgive me if this year I’m not even moved This is a ridiculous pattern haven’t you heard the news? She doesn’t even know you, never saw your face But now you wanna FaceTime her and create a relationship up to date Yet you don’t know the FIRST thing about her; don’t know her full name There are some bitter souls saying I’m the one to blame Yet those same souls went missing When I had to pay tuition Emergency calls I responded to Because I didn’t have help, but you knew You knew she would be ok I turned in that hurt and that pain You created me over again I’m no longer Shanice, I’m a woMAN Making it happen for her She will always get what she deserves As for you, you can do as you please Come in and out of her life so we can hear you grieve You’re only teaching her the right things Your absence for the YEARS has been more than a pleasure Walk in and out, she doesn’t care any more or any lesser Nothing stopped when you disappeared You just put Gods plan in motion and he prepared me with the required gear And the crazy thing I use to fear Of you calling her and she finally understands You weren’t her dad, you’re just a man The man who helped aid in her gift of life She will hold no anger nor strife Because Mommy teaches her to forgive or begin So there’s not much, with her I fear within Her life is not a revolving door But there is a lesson she will be due for In the future with you And that choice of hers is between you two She has love surrounding her so she doesn’t know what she’s missing And I’m sorry if you didn’t know but that was the entire MISSION.. So tell Skylar more about your apologies and the siblings she has be NEVER seen Tell her more about what you hope for and what you dream.. But don’t tell her you can get involved HOWEVER you’re afraid Because you’d fail like your father did back in your days
