As I prepared lunch for the week for my husband and I, my phone rang. It was Sam calling in about Alicia. Sam said she wanted to meet at my place which was fine. When Sam and Alicia got together, Alicia was afraid to tell her parents about Samantha, they dated for two years before Samantha even met Alicia’s parents. Once Alicia came clean about the relationship they decided to marry, they both had kids so there was no need for more. They became a family, until Samantha’s concern with Alicia not being honest about everything. Sam came over, shaking. I was in all honesty scared to ask her what was going on out of fear I’d cry. She then began explaining the nature of their relationship, she was afraid she was losing the woman she cares for. I asked her on what ground did she expect that. She began to express how the mornings use to be, wrapped into her arms and waking up in kisses. Sam reminisced on how much they use to laugh; “I never knew a laugh could make such an impact” she spoke. I didn’t interrupt, I listened as she continued; “I remember the day we met, she saw me but I noticed her. I’m not sure if she knows how much I miss us, how we use to be. Whenever I was sad she’d find some dumb excuse to bring me wings. We’d just lay there no one would speak, our hearts intertwined and we didn’t have to say anything we just knew it was RIGHT.” She began to cry and I held her and asked why was she speaking like they were going separate ways, she insisted that Alicia wasn’t interested in her anymore. She said Alicia didn’t glow, I asked her has she tried communicating. Sam likes to run away from her problems instead of confronting and changing the problems. As she continued it sounded like she wanted Alicia but she didn’t know how to handle the possible rejection, I informed her kids would be broken if she didn’t work on it, her exact words were, “They’ll have to learn to never to get comfortable”. I couldn’t believe her; she was speaking from emotions (which seemed like her ENTIRE BEING). I convinced her to do something for her wife something she’d usually expect from her. That gave her more positive thoughts. Later that night, Sam found a sitter for the two girls and made that night special. She had candles from the door to the bedroom, rose pedals on the bed, a bubble bath with rose pedals inside and champagne with no glasses. Alicia seemed moved with the effort but not who it was coming from; Sam just took it as her wife having a long day. As her wife undressed Sam fell in love all over again, they then got into the tub and talked about their day and marriage. Sam felt like it was going south, so she began to kiss her wife and tell her how beautiful she was. Afterwards, she resumes kissing her wife and the passion replaced the problems for that moment. Alicia needed to feel wanted just as much as Sam or so I thought. (To Be Continued…)
